The ‘fast’ red was actually the ‘Bowls ride four’. Gary,Mike,Jon and Graeme. Plus, initially, Paul F#
‘Comfort’ Mike Faulkner
Initial discussions at the TCC was that Mike F was clearly going to be the sole comfort rider. He had the route on Garmin and was not looking to ride fast as he has long charity ride next week to Carmarthen !! Just wanted miles & elevation.
It was agreed by all that we would ride together but Mike F would drop off as required.
So we all headed along Sunderland Street to Wilsic lane pulling in at Braithwell to pick up Mike F.
At this stage it was mentioned that Paul F had decided to turn left at the buttercross and apparently do his own thing?
Mike F reconfirming his assertion that he would ride alone and meet at Cafe stop.
So we then had the ‘bowls ride’ format which progressed at a an increased rate with the ‘Rucksac’ generally , but not exclusively, in the front.
All good the to Rawmarsh and the following bumps.
Gary had slight ‘chain ring’ issue on ‘America’ problem was he was trying to jump UP to the large ring half way up.
All good to Elescar where we opted for the very busy cafe , as opposed to the similarly very busy cafe. It was a 1940’s war time festival. ‘One’ of our squadron was disturbing the clientele ladies in the queue discussing pink dresses and and and and they seemed ok though Mike F arrived only about 10 mins behind , chapeau.
The return became faster paced generally on the Gary pain train with Jon as the ‘coal’-car !
I initially got dropped off a bit as legs hadn’t going after break also got stuck at the nasty uphill left turn to Wentworth , then the Garmin showing ‘off course’? The loyal Bowls boys waited for me though, albeit, after 15 mins of solo uncertainty.
Soon got those bumps out the way and we had fast run back to Conningsbough. The climb up and via Clifton was clear , except for Gary who went up past Golf course, apparently waiting 5 mins for the other three of us.
Super return via Micklebring Braithwell, Apy into Tickhill.
Mike F arrived TCC again not too far behind. Had good chat and pic.
Despite the minimal number of riders we all had good ride and enjoyed.
Happy days!
