Rides were Martin (me), Tricia Krill, Keven Thomas, Karen Marshall and guest Mike Devine.
The weather was “fine”! Clear sky, light breeze and no sign of anything nasty. We set off, interrogating Mike as we went through Braithwell, Micklebring and down that lovely long hill through Ravenfield common and Ravenfield towards Hooton Roberts.
Traffic was light and the weather hadn’t started to get too sticky although the hill up to the roundabout beyond Kilnhurst on the outskirts of Swindon put paid to any comfort we might have dreamed about.
From there we wiggled our way along to Wentworth and then down to our destination. We chose an outside table, well it was hotter inside!
Mike had had communication with Robin who was going to meet us there so we saved him a place! He was a no show so I guess he sensibly judged the weather to be blo—y hot and stayed home.
A local amateur photographer/random lady took a photo in front of/ behind/under a metal horse before we hit the TPT and the way home. The route thankfully for most of the next 12 miles was shady as the weather was getting a lot warmer. We appreciated the shade once it was gone!
It was very hot over the viaduct and up the trails into Edlington. All went well for us but not so for Boy Racer who didn’t swerve in fast enough after overtaking us and lost his mirror as he took a swipe at the guy going the other way. Neither of them stopped!
We ignored them and carried on into Balby and then along towards Wadworth. We let Mike and Kevin play on the hill and followed them more slowly - very slowly in my case. And I blame the heat!
We made it safely back and found shade for a quick chat before heading for home. A good ride and there’s another coming up on Sunday - come and join us.
