Tickhill Velo Summer Program Gathers Pace

  • Posted: 03 May 2024

After the coldest, wettest and windiest spring on record, the days are getting longer, the temperatures are finally improving and it’s beginning to look like summer might actually be on the horizon.

With the onset of longer, drier days and, hopefully warmer weather, club members are digging their shorts and summer tops out for our rides. Along with our usual Sunday and mid-week rides, the club’s summer activities have started in earnest.  All the details can be found on the “Rides” & “Events” tabs of the website but key points to note are:

  • Our summer evening road rides have re-started.  Leaving the Cricket club at 18:30 every Wednesday evening, routes take a couple of hours, getting back to the club in time for refreshments.

  • Our Gravel rides have re-started with rides planned every 3 – 4 weeks. The majority take in local tracks & trails although some venture further afield, details posted on the website and social media.

  • Our usual feature rides have been planned into the schedule with rides in the Peak District, rides over the Humber Bridge and rides to Cleethorpes all booked.

  • Our 2 day charity ride to Scarborough is also making a return to the calendar.

  • Ladies Only rides have been planned for 26th May and 30th June, other dates to be advised.

  • Our 10-mile open time trial and open hill climbs are both in the calendar.  We will once again be hosting the Trike & Tandem Association event during our August time trial.

Off the bikes we will once again be taking part in the Tickhill Gala on the 6th of June. We have plans for a social evening at the Cricket Club and, later in the year, our annual dinner dance will take place with a chance for you to let your hair down and do a bit of “dad” dancing late into the evening.

We have several new members who have joined us over the last few months and new members are always welcome.  If you fancy joining a group of friendly, like minded riders, feel free to join us for a ride. We cater for a large cross section of abilities and no one is dropped or left behind on a ride.
